the catcher in the rye is a novel which is set during post world war two America. Becouse the Americans were not actively involved in the second world war they came out to wealth. Hoden is a device wich seliger usees to critisize the life style of his country, which is that of vanity sloth and greed. iven in his critic Hoden offers an altenative which makes him a rebel with a course. this assey will look at what he critisizes and his altenatives, which can be divided into artistic as well as individual authonomy, creation and originality hardwork, as opposed to a world of glomour pretence, phonynes and mass consumerrism. selinger was in fact profetic in his narrative as what he fortold came to pass.
